I am Prof. at University of Utrecht, Department of Mathematics. I did my bachelor at Babes-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania), then I moved to Holland where I participated in the MRI Master Class of 1995/1996; I received my PhD in 2000 (Utrecht University), then I was a Miller Research Fellow at UC Berkely, then I returned back to Holland as a Fellow of the KNAW (Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences) where I remained ever since.
I like to teach mathematics, but my main activity is research (my research interests are: differential geometry, noncommutative geometry; more specifically: Poisson Geometry, G-structures, Lie pseudo-groups and groupoids. I have been/am supervising several PhD students (Camilo Arias Abad, Niel Kowalzig, Ionut Marcut, Maria Amelia Salazar, Boris Osorno Torres, Juao Nuno) and hosted/hosting several PostDocs (David Martinez Torres, Ivan Struchiner, Sergey Ionin).
