Theoretical restrictions on word order variation in three-verb clusters door Sjef Barbiers (te verschijnen in Corrigan, K. & L. Doubts about dichotomy) handelt over variatie in woordvolgorde in werkwoordsclusters zoals '...dat hij moet kunnen zwemmen'.
De Sankt Gallen en Reiderlander Platt dialecten in Duitstalig taalgebied maken het met de in gebruik zijnde 2-1-3 volgorde er overigens niet gemakkelijker op.
Een citaat met betrekking op mijn onderzoek: "there does not seem to be a simple relation between geographic distance and familiarity with other dialects. To test this solution, the individual familiarity with than one's own dialect should be measured, a rather complicated task.".
