Binding theory is a good area to compare competing theories within the generative paradigm. This paper focuses on binding theories in the Principles and Parameters framework (Chomsky 1981, Lasnik & Chomsky 1993), Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (Pollard & Sag 1994), and Lexical Functional Grammar (Bresnan 2000).
In addition, the Reflexivity approach as proposed in Reinhart & Reuland (1993) is discussed.
