The Design
The basis of any Loop Antenna is an open wire coil, tuned with a variable capacitor, combined with a pickup coil for feeding the radio. Mora uses two sections of a tuning capacitor, with the center grounded, to improve the symmetry and reduce the antenna effect (reaction to electrical signals). A switch allows to select one, two or four turns of the main coil. To reduce influence of the load to the tuning tank, the output is coupled through a 15pF cap. The antenna has two connections, one on the front and one on the back.

This Object
The whole assembly is placed on a wooden board. The coil frame is the edge of an old photo frame from the junk shop.
A pointer attached to the tuning condenser forms the dial. On the right you can see the wiring. I experimented with different numbers of turns. Currently the main coil has size 41x42cm and has four turns for band 1, two turns for band 2 and one turn for band 3. With two extra turns for band 1, I could receive the pirate stations around 1620kHz and 160m hams, but the performance on the shortwave bands got worse.
