My biography

Born in Alma-Ata (USSR) in 1957.  Married since 1983 with two children (born in 1984 and 1990). More family photos here.
 
 
1979 Graduated (cum laudem) in theoretical physics from the Rostov-on-Don State University, USSR 
1979-82 Postgraduate student in applied mathematics at the Research Computing Centre (RCC) of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Pushchino, Moscow Region, USSR
1982-86 Junior researcher at RCC
1986 Ph.D. (physics and mathematics) from the USSR Academy of Sciences. Thesis: Auto-waves in Spatially Distributted Dynamical Systems with Symmetry. 
1986-98 Researcher at RCC (from 1991: Institute of Mathematical Problems of Biology (IMPB), Russian Academy of Sciences)
1986  Peccei's Award for the best work in mathematical modelling of ecosystems from the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria
1987,89 Visiting research fellow at IIASA
